How to add a simple statement piece to take an outfit from boring to stylish

You’re a busy mom and you find yourself reaching for your trusty jeans, t-shirt and flip flops every day, that’s all good. I get it, you don’t have time in the mornings to pfaff with what to wear and you feel like you can’t go wrong with the jeans + tee combo. It’s practical, easy to clean (kids) and comfy (kids).

Just remember that by adding one small addition to your outfit you can take your entire look up a massive notch and feel a little stylish, and who wouldn’t want to feel that right?

Before I show you how to do this, the key thing to remember here is the condition of said t-shirt and jeans. If you’re wearing your stretched out Woolies jeggings with your JT one tee, that’s going to be hard to work with, no matter what accessories you have!

It’s all about getting the basics right. My advice to you is to invest in a few t-shirts that drape well and fit your body shape comfortably – be that fitted or loose, whatever your preference. Same goes for the jeans, you don’t need 5 pairs (or more *ahem*). To start with you really just need one pair that you know you look amazing in, so take the time to find that pair.

Ok so you have your jeans and you have your t-shirt. Here are examples of 3 different pieces that you can add to this look, to take it from boring to stylish.

1. Chunky necklace
2. Bold earrings
3. Bright shoes

Here’s me wearing these different combinations..

What do you think? Easy right?

P.S. I did a post on Instagram a while ago and have highlighted it in my stories, with some tips on where to shop for jeans. I got a lot of feedback from people in terms of where their go to shop is or what their got- brand is. I’d love to hear yours so please drop me a comment below.

Pips I only have one kid and one on the way and I totally feel the pressure of context switching…..working mom’s have it TOUGH and I don’t think society appreciates the constant thinking about “whats for supper?” “do we need banana’s?” “did I reply to that client” etc. that happens constantly in the background of keeping multiple balls in the air. I LOVE your blog and your honesty and know there are a few of us that it really resonates with. Love Carms

Thanks so much for the feedback Carms, I’m so glad it resonates. I had an email from another reader who told me it moved her to tears as she can so relate. So I think we take comfort in knowing that so many of us are in the same boat! x
